How far along? 29 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Somewhere between 20 and 30lbs. Not really keeping track because I'm not really all that concerned with it.
Maternity clothes? I should say all the time, but I wear a lot of non-maternity yoga style pants. Actually spend most of my time in yoga pants and a tank top these days. Fashion forward is an understatement
Stretch marks? Nothing new, but my belly is stretched pretty tight and Finns are becoming more noticeable again.
Sleep: Blech. Between a two year old who gets up at least once a night (hunting for the root of that problem), and peeing, sleep sucks. My hips also aren't helping the sleep situation.
Best moment this week: Actually doing something for this baby! Poor Atticus gets hand me down everything, and I know its all still around, so I haven''t really even gone looking for it. I did get his carseat out thought to make sure it was still good.
Movement: See previous video. All the time. Never stops. Sooooooooo busy.
Food cravings: not a ton. Sadly I don't get super hungry for anything any more.
Gender: penis #2
Labor Signs: I've had a slew of Braxton Hicks contractions, and I did have two real contractions last week after... well, use your imagination. But that's it.
Belly Button in or out? totally flat, and at night the top pops out a tiny bit. This is new, I barely got to totally flat with Finn.
Wedding rings on or off? on :) And comfortably at that. Kinda surprised, but thinking as it starts warming up that will change.
What I miss: alcohol. Beer specifically. Jay even bought me O'Douls to try and keep me happy. It works for about 3 minutes.
What I am looking forward to: Atticus being here :) Pregnancy just isn't as exciting the second go round. I have a lot going on, a two year old to chase, and a business to run. I'm ready to get to the adjustment period of two kids, and stop waddling!
Weekly Wisdom: weekly wisdom to myself - enjoy the last few weeks of Finn before my time is split between two kids. I'm excited, but would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about how things are going to go :)
Milestones: Third trimester home stretch!
So onto my bitchy moment of this post. Gestational diabetes. I may or may not have mentioned early on, I'm considered 'at risk' for GD b/c Finn was over 9lbs and had shoulder dystocia. Because of this I had to do early GD testing at 18 weeks. I wasn't thrilled, but I did it. Failed the 1 hr (barely), passed the 3 hr just fine. So as 28 weeks rolled around, I asked to skip the 1 hr, and go straight to the 3hr. Long story short, I was told no. I should have fought harder, because I failed that damn 1 hr again. I have to go sit in the tiny waiting area of the lab for 3 hours AGAIN on Monday. This throws a serious monkey wrench in my week. Finding a sitter, spending 3 hours not able to do much of anything, etc. I get it. GD is serious. I'm not arguing that. But I'm not failing these tests miserably, its borderline, and even the 3 hr I passed I had abnormal 1 hr results. Obviously my body is less than thrilled with this one hour mark. I also hate that just because Finn was big I have to deal with all of this. My brother and I were big. My husband and his brother were big. Of the 4 of us I was the smallest at 8lbs 13oz or something like that. No history of diabetes. Finn was tested at birth since he was so big. All clear there are well. I really think I just make big babies. Like I said on facebook, I'll eat my words if I fail this damn 3 hr test on Monday, but I think this is all overkill and a waste of my time. At my appointment a week from Monday w my midwife I will be making it expressly clear I will not be taking the 1 hr test for future pregnancies (should such a thing happen). I will take the three hour. And if this boy is over 9lbs as well, and I don't have GD this time either, I will be fighting the 18 week GD testing in the future. One big baby might be a warning sign, two big babies is genetics. My poor midwife, shes just gonna hope I don't ever get pregnant again after this, I'm sure I'm quickly becoming one of, if not her least favorite patients.
